It’s A Matter Of Character!

TRE will be recognizing a character trait every month. Guidance lessons will be targeted towards these character traits. 

 

September

Respect

Treating others as you would want to be treated

with politeness, kindness, and fairness.

(Topics: school rules, school expectations, fairness, bullying, generosity.)

 

October

Good Judgment

Understand right from wrong, good from bad,

and making the right choices.

(Topics: Red Ribbon Week, making the right choices, making safe choices.)

 

November

Self-Discipline

Being in control of your words, actions,

emotions, and behaviors.

(Topics: tattling, interrupting, practicing self-control)

December

Kindness

Showing gentleness, goodness of heart,

caring, compassion, and friendliness.

(Topics: kindness, friendship, Random Acts of Kindness Week, compassion, empathy)

January

Integrity

To act according to what is right and wrong.

(Topics: honesty, reliability, doing the right thing even if no one is watching)

 

February

Courage

Being brave when you are scared; doing the

right thing even when it is difficult.

(Topics: standing up for yourself and others, having the courage to be who you are, Black History Month)

Tolerance

Recognizing and respecting the rights

and beliefs of others.

(Topics: diversity, acceptance, self-love, learning styles/multiple intelligence, uniqueness)

Responsibility

Being accountable for you words and actions.

(Topics: career exploration, responsibilities, fair/unfair.)

Perseverance

Never giving up!

(Topics: Ambitiousness, diligence, effort, excellence, pride, test taking preparation, middle school/grade level transitions.)
