  • To take this Washington, DC fieldtrip we must have approval by TRE’s School Advisory Council. This trip must meet the guidelines of the WCPS Board Policy Code 3320 for school trips.
  • This trip is scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday, March 27-March 29, 2018
  • Departure is at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday and return is 6 p.m on Thursday.
  • Scholastica Travels is the tour agency we use.  There will be one tour guide per bus.
  • Travel is by Goldsboro Bus Company motorcoach.  This motorcoach is on the approved list adopted by the Wayne County Board of Education.
  • Each student may bring ONE chaperone.  Adults are expected and needed to chaperone. 
  • Sisters and brothers are not able to attend.
  • Chaperones are responsible for up to four children.
  • Much of the time we move around DC in small groups, hence the need for chaperones.
  • We will be staying in Cheverly, MD at Wyndham Gardens Hotel.
  • Male chaperones do not room with females.
  • Please refer to the DC itinerary on back.  This itinerary is a guide.  Depending on the weather, the itinerary could be and is most often deviated from. 
  • There is a considerable amount of walking during the entire trip!!!  Many of the monuments have steps.  Chaperones need to be able to walk long distances.
  • We usually leave the hotel around 7 a.m. and return around 9 p.m.
  • The cost of the trip is $420 per person depending on the number of people paid per bus.  The cost of the trip will be broken down into 3 payments.  Payments will be due October 6 ($150), November 3 ($150), and January 5 ($120).  Payments can be made in cash or by check (payable to Tommy’s Road Elementary).
  • The cost covers everything except 1 meal (typically fast food).  So your child will need to bring money for 1 meal and any souvenir money you decide upon.
  • Safety is of UPMOST importance.  Well disciplined students are a necessity.
